Essence PR: Marili Skincare becomes part of the Essence family

We have recently welcomed brand new children’s organic bath and body range, Marili Skincare, to the Essence beauty family. Founded by the hugely inspirational and gorgeous, Marili Aitken, a Zimbabwean national who now lives in UK, Marili Skincare is an African inspired range of SLS , paraben, petrochemical and mineral oil free products.

Marili launched the brand in response to a need for fun, great smelling, child-friendly body and bath products that are organic and natural. Recognising this gap in the market when her son developed a rash after using a high street brand, Marili began to research organic and natural skincare and has never looked back.

Three years in research and development, Marili has now created a capsule range of seven
African inspired products with no nasties and several delicious scents. The range includes two great smelling and super nourishing Hair & Body Washes, a gentle Papaya Foaming Face Wash and four lip smacking Lip Balms.

Five fabulous characters based upon Zimbabwean wildlife help Marili Skincare to make a big splash at bath time. Tatti the leopard, Rista the elephant, Zig-Zag the Zebra, Nina the giraffe and Dudzi the hippo each have their own big personalities and individual qualities, which Marili developed to help bath time flow a little smoother. Essence PR has been appointed to handle the communications strategy for the brand, covering both traditional digital PR. In the run up to the launch this summer, we were also involved in product development and advising on route to market.

To date, we have secured multiple reviews and news stories on the launch in the parenting, natural and hair media, as well as the trade press. Marili Skincare has also won a prestigious award and been nominated for three other awards. But the real cherry on the cake was linking Marili with business woman and model, Caprice, who now follows the brand on social media!
