Hair PR: Essence PR and Nanogen host press dinner at Nobu Shoreditch Hotel

What:
Essence PR, Pangaea Laboratories, and Nanogen hosted an intimate dinner for the beauty and grooming press.

Why:
The event celebrated the repositioning of the Nanogen brand, introduced the product range and brand experts to the media, and provided an opportunity to unveil the newly packaged Nanogen Keratin Thickening Hair Fibres with a beauty and styling angle.

How:
The event began at 7pm with a drinks reception in the bar of the Nobu Shoreditch Hotel, where guests were welcomed by Essence PR, Pangaea and Nanogen, and seated in a reserved area. Guests were offered a choice of Champagne or cocktails, including lychee and elderflower martinis, and Nobu’s signature Mia Margarita

After introductions and mingling, the party were shown to the restaurant’s semi-private dining room, an intimate space partially concealed from other diners by sheer drapes.

Trestle table dining provided space for twenty seated, including twelve members of the press, and hosts Pangaea, Nanogen, hair stylist ambassador Matthew Curtis and Essence PR, with place cards ensuring guests were strategically placed amongst the hosts. Tonal Pimpernel hydrangeas were placed along the centre of the table, a nod to Nanogen’s packaging colours and the simplicity and elegance of their new branding.

Once seated, Nobu’s bar manager gave a short talk about Nobu’s most exclusive sake, before pouring a glass for each of the diners. This sake was later included in the guests’ goody bags, for them to take away and enjoy at home.

A six course dinner followed, with the hosts rotating clockwise around the table between courses, so that guests were provided with a 360 degree talk on Nanogen, the Pangaea superlab, the science behind the products’ ingredients, applying and using the product, and content pitching.

Upon departure, guests were given a goody bag containing a branded USB key containing new product press releases and a selection of Nanogen products to take home and try. Copies of cookbook Nobu West, signed by Nobu Matsuhisa, and a bottle of Nobu’s exclusive ‘The Premium Sake’ TK 40 were also included, to ensure the guests left feeling extra special.

The event was the perfect way to introduce the brand experts to prestigious beauty and grooming journalists, and create excitement around the British heritage brand. The newness and elegance of the venue provided the perfect backdrop for Nanogen’s new branding, helping further to reposition the brand as one to watch in the beauty arena.

HAIR PR: Matthew Curtis Rosewood London Launch

What: On Thursday 13th October the official press launch of the Matthew Curtis Salon at Rosewood London took place in a private suite at the prestigious hotel.

Why: The intimate and elegant gathering was attended by key press, influencers and guests, who were treated to a glimpse of the boutique salon and its luxurious surroundings.

How: The suite was decorated beautifully with fresh flowers, scented candles and antique suitcases that had been placed throughout the room to recreate the theme of The Orient Express and high living, as seen in the salon itself. On arrival, guests were offered a choice of three delicious cocktails – Elderflower Garden Party, Roselle or an Espresso Martini – mixed and prepared by the London Cocktail Club. A team of Matthew Curtis hair stylists were waiting and ready to provide luxury dry hairstyling on demand, so guests were left feeling pampered and glamorous. Acoustic musical performances added to a warm and jovial ambience, and goody bags included personalised meringues, chocolates, scented travel candles and hair products for an additional perk. The night was a fantastic welcome for Matthew Curtis new salon to Rosewood London. Essence PR had the responsibility of inviting key press and guests, as well as the coordination of drinks and canapes, entertainment and suite hire with client and hotel.

 

Hair PR: Matthew Curtis Creative Team heads up hair at Zeynep Kartal LFW SS’17

What:
Runway and celebrity hair stylist Matthew Curtis headed up the hair team backstage at the Zeynep Kartal SS’17 show at London Fashion Week.

Why:
Fashion week provides the perfect opportunity for the Matthew Curtis Creative Team to showcase their technical and artistic prowess, ensuring they remain at the forefront of cutting edge styles and trends.

How:
The Matthew Curtis Creative Team’s inspiration for the hair look was effortless romance, with an airy feel and a nod to Victoriana. All models wore low buns with a dishevelled, texture, parted from the right and with natural texture and fly-aways ‘windswept’ slightly to the left.
The understated hairstyle complemented the complex textures and intricate embroidery of Zeynep Kartal’s latest collection ‘A Royal Romance’, which was inspired by traditional 18th Century vintage Rococo designs, and the female royals of Buckingham Palace.
Essence PR was responsible for organising the Matthew Curtis Creative Team as official hair team of the show, securing styling product for the team and coordinating models backstage. We followed up with a trend report which we sent to press to secure coverage of the London Fashion Week hair creations

Hair PR: Essence PR Organises Press Trip for the Launch of the Matthew Curtis Hair Retreat at Hoar Cross Hall Spa

What: The official launch of the new Matthew Curtis Hair Retreat at Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel, a luxury hair salon within the spa centred on hair and scalp health.

Why: To increase brand awareness and create excitement around the new Matthew Curtis Hair Retreat, as well as driving footfall to the spa at both a national and local level.

How:
Essence PR organised two events to ensure awareness was driven nationally and locally: one aimed the consumer and national press and a second for the spa’s local media and trade press.

The first event, which encompassed an overnight stay at the hotel, was attended by eight key editors across beauty, lifestyle and health press. A memorable and luxurious event, Essence PR worked with key members of the hotel and third parties to organise travel, room bookings, treatments, entertainment, fitness activities and a fine dining experience. Furthermore, Essence PR created an extensive press pack about the new Hair Retreat and Matthew Curtis’ hair credentials.

On arrival, the consumer press were greeted by the hotel team and Matthew before being taken to their luxurious suites. After a long lunch in the spa’s restaurant, the afternoon was spent in the spa experiencing body treatments and of course a spa treatment in the Hair Retreat, finished with a blow dry chosen from the illustrated Cocktail themed Blow Dry Menu. The evening entertainment consisted of a cocktail making class to tie in and bring the Cocktail themed Blow Dry Menu to life. The evening conclude with a fine dining experience courtesy of Hoar Cross Hall’s award winning chef. The following morning Essence PR had organised for press to see the spa’s gym and take part in a bespoke fitness class before heading back to London.

The key objective of the second event was to raise awareness locally. As well as local press and bloggers, the key hair and spa trade media were also invited to the event, to demonstrate Hoar Cross Hall’s innovation & leadership position.

12 journalists and bloggers attended the second event at the spa, which consisted of a pampering afternoon in the spa and Hair Retreat. After experiencing treatments in the Hair Retreat and talking to Matthew, the group also enjoyed a cocktail making class.

The press events were documented by the attendees across social media, making noise on both the spa’s and Matthew Curtis’ social platforms. Since the events, we have seen multiple stories and reviews about the Hair Retreat in titles such as Good Housekeeping, Glamour and Hairdressers Journal, and there’s lots more to come! In addition, Essence PR has been proactively securing coverage on the Hair Retreat, either through individual reviews or inclusion in relevant features.
